Moved to a Big Bed for Better Snuggles!

Today was pretty quiet and uneventful, which was a welcome reprieve. All of the information was officially sent off for our second opinion and we are still waiting for it to come back. I managed to get phone calls made and insurance things done. We had a lot of family up to visit today too, which was amazing as well. It’s nice to be surrounded by loved ones!

The big commotion today was four of our nurses moving AJ from his tiny baby bed into a big grown-up bed. This means that we can crawl into bed next to him to snuggle anytime we want. Definitely a big bonus and has brought a lot of joy to our day today. We even had a few minutes to snuggle without his forehead sensor on and plant a few extra kisses.

Tonight he’s getting a bit more lasix and the goal is to wean him off the ventilator just a little. Baby steps!

We continue to be thankful for all of the prayers, happy thoughts and donations. I think I spent more time today crying happy tears because of the generosity and kindness of people than I did our current situation – which was definitely a nice break too!

Also, a few people have asked us about the Ronald McDonald house, etc. We did put ourselves on the waiting list and were approved the first couple of nights, but neither of us are quite yet ready to leave him alone… We might get there eventually, just not quite yet. Right now we just want to get all the snuggles and loving in that we can!

Also, the hospital staff here is pretty awesome at keeping Averie involved. Today they helped her make a scrapbook page with embossed hand and footprints of both hers and his, and you can see the pile of some of her other crafts that have been keeping her busy 💕
