Walking Games and Ukulele

AJ has still been working on walking. To be honest, I expected him to have taken off by now. In true AJ fashion though, he does things at his own pace.

His biggest struggle is with a lack of balance. We’ve been playing a lot of music, getting him to dance and to use his left leg more. That darn strike still has some impact, even if we often don’t notice it.

He’s also seemingly a little scared of falling, so we’ve had to make walking into a game. He walks across the room, “gets” the person he’s playing with, and everyone falls down and goes “boom”.

Hopefully this will help increase his confidence so he’s less afraid to take those steps, and less afraid to fall.

Averie has been doing great in school. She made the decision this year to play the clarinet in band.

Well. Sort of made a decision.

She was back and forth between flute and clarinet. So right now she’s borrowing a clarinet from a friend until she decides to commit one way or the other.

She’s also still working on learning the ukulele. Most nights she practices both.

She decided she wanted to learn the ukulele herself over the summer, and used some of her birthday money toward getting one. And then did go to a ukulele camp over the summer.

I remember trying to learn to play the guitar, and it hurt my fingers enough that I quit early on. I’m proud of how much she works on it. Especially since she’s not taking lessons. Everything she has learned (outside of her camp) has come from apps and YouTube videos.
