OFF THE VENT!

This little man has something to be incredibly proud of today. Yesterday morning the docs made the call to go ahead and shoot for a full 24 hours straight off the vent. It’s now past bedtime, over 36 hours later, and he’s still going strong! That’s the longest he’s gone in his entire life since he was Intubated day one a few hours after being born. The hope is that we will be able to go home without any standing daily vent orders! He will likely still need it if he gets sick, but that’s far better than nightly!

This boy continues to impress everyone daily with his desire to just do his own thing regardless of what would be a “normal” expectation given his circumstances. 💕

In other news, we are frantically working to get the house ready for AJ to come home. We had a handful of amazing people who came out over the weekend and Monday to help get things sorted through, organized and cleaned out – I don’t think we could ever thank them enough. At this point we have a couple of bigger projects and just general cleaning left as well as the major things we have to hire out for like carpet and duct cleaning — until the medical supplies get here and we have to get to organizing those.

There’s no set go home day yet, but every day during rounds discharge goals are brought up and it’s still a little surreal to think that we could in the very near future finally bring our (not quite so) little miracle baby boy home!
