Temporarily Moved Out

We’re not in Kansas anymore! Or Keystone for that matter!

No photo description available.

Demo work on the basement started today. The entire bathroom walls are gone. The cabinets for the “kitchen” in the basement are gone. And between the mold that was uncovered and the general debris in the air we determined it wasn’t safe to keep this little guy in the house. It was bothering mom enough, never mind AJ… the last thing we need is to get him sick again.

So for the first time ever, we packed him up for an overnight stay at a hotel while they fix the house. We will be here for a few days, and are hoping insurance will pick up the tab. Nursing will be able to continue to come by during the day as well. We did have to get a place with a kitchen – it’s really needed to wash and prep all his meds and supplies, and as a bonus there’s a small living area so he is able to roll around…

Hauling all his stuff? Insane. It filled the car. Oxygen compressor, tank filling station, spare o2 tanks, CPT vest, pack and play, suction machine and catheters, pulse ox, meds and emergency kits and supplies of gauze and qtips etc. plus the regular baby things – clothes, diapers, food, pack and play…

There’s a lot.

Averie, by contrast, chucked an outfit, pair of PJs and a toothbrush in a bag and went off to stay with friends so she could still get to school. (Thanks Christine!)

Aaron’s shingles have resurfaced too. So he’s banned from contact with the kids. And advised against adults and work. Which is awesome after he wasn’t able to work while AJ was inpatient either… but at least it means he’s able to be at the house while they’re tearing things apart…

For now? I’m going to wait for Elisabeth to show up with some dinner (yes, it’s after midnight and I’ve failed to eat AT ALL today except trail mix), and then will crawl into bed and celebrate the fact that this little guy sleeps just like his daddy and can pass out anywhere!
