Kidney Function Slowly Improving

AJs kidney related numbers looked a little better late last night after having stopped his diuretics – they’re still not perfect, but better. However, the poor boy is getting all puffy. 🙁

This morning he also spiked a temp of 105. When I reached his room there was a party of people, he’d been given Tylenol and Motrin and shortly after we were able to knock his temp down with cool washcloths. In this time they pulled cultures. They also moved him to the hospital vent and held his feeds. His temp never came back and aside from being exhausted, he seems to be doing just fine. He was left on the hospital vent all day today to rest and recover, and they will be restarting his feeds overnight.

The hardest part was all of the labs he needed to have done. His PICC line doesn’t draw and is actually no longer central so that will likely be taken out and a new one placed. Either way. I lost count today after 12 sticks in 24 hours. Poor guy.

Thus far it looks like maybe weds for his cath, if he stays settled down until then, but it’s always subject to change. Aaron Gale is planning on making the trek out here this weekend.

Meanwhile, we just continue to pray, and I try to keep myself at AJs bed side to help keep him calm and resting as much as possible, but most of what we need right now is prayers. Lots and lots and lots of prayers.
