by Today a very special husband and father celebrates his birthday.
This past year has definitely not been easy on any of us, but I tend to think he’s had the hardest time as a whole. Battling RA and trying to find medications that will actually work is tough enough, but doing that in the year while your other half is pregnant and incredibly sick, you have a medically fragile son, half your family transfers across the country for your babies surgery, having to stay home and act as a single father for a very loving yet sassy first grader, planning a wedding, getting married, learning to care for a special needs kiddo and heading back out across the country and preparing for a second open heart surgery for your baby with your wife who is on the verge of a breakdown on a fairly regular basis? Yeah, I can’t think of anyone who would eagerly sign up for most of those things in a lifetime, nevermind in the course of one year.
Yet he does it. And it may not always be with a smile (he has his “always grumpy” look to maintain), he does it while very rarely complaining, despite how much he absolutely has a right to complain about.
I know I don’t say it often, but it deserves being said. I couldn’t have in a million years dreamt of a more loving father and role model for our kiddos, nor a better pillar of strength and support for me to lean on and listen to bad 80s and 90s music with who can make me smile despite everything else going on.
